Why should I be confident?

April 13th, 2008 by Ah Doe

Bzzzz…..I am speechless.

It so happened that my mum gave me a pile of notepads and asked me to use it whenever I can, because she knew that I have a habit of jotting down some ideas or reminders.

Notepads

Looked not so bad at first glance

“One friend of mine had a lot of them so she just gave me some”, Ah Doe’s mum said.

Nothing so fishy about it, and I started to carry them with me and write down “To Do” lists each day. After two weeks, it again, so happened that I see the cover. This time, one word caught my attention, and that was when I started to regret very very much!

Notepad Cover

Vaginal? OMG!!! Why are you appearing on the cover!

I really wished that no one notices the word “Vaginal” on this notepad. If they did, most probably they will think that there’s something wrong with my reproductive system, and maybe they will admire my courage for letting everyone know.

In the MRT, dining in all sorts of restaurants, in the bus, library etc.

Women Confidence

On the contrary, I lost my confidence for exposing this notepad in the public.

The Sleeping Beauty Castle

April 12th, 2008 by Ah Doe

Disneyland is kids’ wonderland!

 Disneyland Castle

I am so happy to witness the real Disneyland Castle in Paris!

Paris Disneyland Castle

Felt so touched when I see this landmark glowed in dark. When I heard Disneyland’s theme song at the same time, I was like being fetched back to my childhood in a time capsule.

That was really memorable, and I could not even believe that I am already a grown-up now.

Yes, time really flies…

Do you know that we actually have a true model of Disneyland Castle in real life?

It’s called the Neuschwanstein Castle.

Neuschwanstein Castle in Daytime

Looked rather gloomy in bad weather

Located in Fussen, Germany, this castle was built by King Ludwig II in year 1886 and took 17 years to complete.

I am a Vagabond

April 9th, 2008 by Ah Doe

Vagabond, not James Bond…

As Bon Jovi said: “It’s my life”, it’s seems to be really true on me.

A vagabond is a wanderer who has no permanent home, by the way.

Sometimes I am a little confused on where I wanted to settle down, especially nowadays. If I look on the bright side, I get to explore lots of places while I am still energetic. I mean, in terms of local culture, cuisines, and of course the people.

This has been continuous for around 10 years…

A little too long for me already.

A House

Big house

Starting from year 1999 till now, I have actually moved house 14 times! That’s pretty tiring I would say, especially when I am not the Godzilla type of girl. After the 10th experience, suffering from fatique and depression, I started to have less expectation towards the place I stayed.

There are a number of reasons for moving: Haunted house, relationship problems, expensive rental, relocation etc. All kinds of them and I can start to publish a book about my experience.

I think I can only start to post new piano sheets after settling down…

Oh ya, have to move the piano too….

Horror movies

March 31st, 2008 by Ah Doe

I like to watch horror movies, but I have a weak heart……

This is so unfair…

I managed to overcome the weak heart problem by covering my eyes with my hands almost throughout the movies. Those who watch the horror movies with me in the cinema are really unlucky to have me beside them.

Nope, I won’t do disgraceful things like screaming or laughing hysterically in between, but I keep asking them: “Hey, what happened just now? What did he (Actor) see?”

In short, I donated my money for nothing.

Besides a weak heart, I have a good memory, and the worst: A very good imagination! If these are applied at a good area, I’ve already made a fortune. But alas…

Damn horror movies directors, they are so good in using sound effects to scare me out of my wits. When I was young (I am still young now 🙂 ), I remember the Chinese vampires and Western Dracula are in the main stream of horror movies.

Then…along came the spirits. After watching so many shows like this, I concluded that audience just want to experience the thrill of getting scared by sudden occurrences or incidents, and they will wait for the truth behind the haunting till the end.

It’s old-fashion now.

If you survey what’s the top 10 horror movies now, you will for sure receive these answers:

  1. Ju On
  2. The Ring
  3. The Eye
  4. The Shutter
  5. The Phone

1973 acoustic version by James Blunt

March 28th, 2008 by Ah Doe

When we are talking about James Blunt, maybe you will start to picture an image of him saying “You’re beautiful” to you.

I must say, James Blunt is really a genius! Not only his ability to compose and write nice songs, his gifted voice makes him an exquisite brand in the industry of music. Sharp (i.e. not Blunt) but gentle, he reminds me of another voice: Aaron Neville.

I am glad that James Blunt survived through the competition against dozens and tons of other over-artificial songs that come from the digital age. I mean, how many live unplugged performances we can get to enjoy since year 2000? I like the purity and originality in his songs, his voice and his creativity.

In year 2007, James Blunt released his new album, All the Lost Souls, where he kept a song called 1973 in it.

1973 still sounds like James Blunt, it’s truly his style again. And I loved it.

Guess many people have listened to this song before, but how many of you have heard the acoustic (or better known as Unplugged) version of his singing recorded in Ibiza?

Inspired by this video, I’ve transcribed a piano sheet for 1973 as well. Those who are interested can watch the video for reference before going ahead to play at the piano. This is also a good excuse to skip the dreadful sight-reading.

Just a coincidence, this song is in A Major. (I noticed that I have been writing piano sheets in A Major since 2 weeks ago. Luck is not always good I guess)

If you’d like to team up with a guitarist, it’s just simple. The guitarist is recommended to follow the chords that I have jotted down in the piano sheet, and strum it with a continuous 8 beat (Quavers) at the chorus part. This will greatly enhance the rhythm and make this song less monotonous.
