It has been a while since I posted a free piano sheet. The entire year 2022 was busy yet fruitful in my musical journey so I am still very grateful.

So what’s the first piano sheet in 2023 to welcome a year where things seem to get reset?

I am pretty sure this is one of the most popular Chinese New Year song in archive but I won’t be surprised if no one knows the name of this song.

The version of my transcription is very close to the original song, even the chords, ornaments and some details where specific notes are set as accent.

I have not watched drama for very long time but this is one that is highly recommended by my friends. Be prepared to get hooked after watching this drama. I had to watch the drama again from episode 1 to crack the mystery of the mastermind’s plot because the story is just too complicated and there are many characters to remember.

The OST of this drama is remarkable. When I found out that the composer is Lin Hai (林海), the immediate reaction from me is “No wonder”! Lin Hai has composed numerous songs for movies and some of them have gained popularity, e.g. Joyous (欢沁)

2020 is a year that everyone wants to forget. There was no COVID, no lockdowns. We were so used to convenience that we took that for granted, and maybe, 2020 is a year for self-reflection.

Nevertheless, let’s not lose hope and pray for a better 2021!

This year, I am doing another piano sheet for Chinese New Year oldies. Kiss On My Face by Spring Breeze (春风吻上我的脸) is less high-spirited and emphasizes more on the spring season instead. The tempo is 60bps so remember to play it slowly and gently.

As life becomes more hectic, I tend to limit myself from watching dramas because I know how I would become if I get hooked on to them. One recent drama that I’ve just finished is Romance of Tiger and Rose (传闻中的陈芊芊), starring Zhao Lusi (赵露思) and Ryan Ding (丁禹兮).

No doubt that the drama is good, if not I won’t be even finishing it. However, I would like to introduce the talents behind the theme song, Iris Tan (陈欣桦) the composer, and 郑凌旭—­ the lyricist. Both have caught international attention because of this song which is popularized by this drama. In fact, Iris has been active in this industry in Malaysia and she has been frequently participating in music composing.

I have heard her sharing her experience in composing music in the local radio station. Kudos to both of them for making Malaysians proud.
