AhDoe – Music as an International Language

This outstanding christmas tree was standing alone in the middle of a piazza, surrounded by nice view but a gloomy weather. The floor was wet, if you’d noticed it.

I’m not really in the mood of celebration this year, even walking around crowded shopping malls seems so meaningless. My aunt just passed away, economic is not good, job security is damn low, even traveling to Malaysia is a disaster now as I predict I will be sandwiched between people. Nothing seems to be promising now, what a Christmas!

Life still goes on, and the good news is, I’m already working on a new piano sheet which I suppose, will be your favourite. This coming piano sheet will be ready in approximately 3 days’ time.

I don’t know what to say. I’m like a zombie for the whole day. Her face kept appearing in my mind. The mischievous smile, the cynical look…she was always cheerful and naughty.

I would not want to believe that I can’t see her again…

Happy Birthday to AhDoe.com!!! I’ve almost forgotten about this until I checked my handphone reminder in the toilet yesterday. (Toilet?!?!?!)

I’d better skip the “Things I have done during the past one year” and “New Year Resolution“. This is the 1st Anniversary, it’s like some sort of AhDoe.com’s one year-old birthday and not AhDoe.com’s first New Year, so forget about listing all these craps under this post.

Ah Doe just wants to thank all of you who have supported this website, paid attention or requested something from the site and recommended this site to others. It’s not easy to transcribe songs. Really, I’m not lying about this! To construct a new piano sheet, the process includes finding the songs (Raw material lah!), listening to the songs and trap the songs in between to jot down the notes before I forget how they sound like, put them into notes, count the beats, add the lyrics and chords, and finally — audit the songs before I publish them.

Well, I shall talk about this in-depth next time.

Most importantly, I just want to let all of you know that your continuous support is the reason that kept me going on all the while. Big muaks to all of you!

This is the first ever Lantern Festival that AhDoe.com celebrates since its startup. Therefore I decided to do a piano sheet that is relevant to the Moon…

Although Teresa Teng (邓丽君) has left us for 13 years, she is still one of my favourite singers. There is no one else who can sing like her, fascinate audiences with sweet smile and a lovely character. Maybe it’s interesting to know, she is also famous of her nice, lengthy legs!

While doing this piano sheet, I listened to this song over and over again, and it reminds me of my childhood back then. Teresa’s songs really symbolize those days in the 80s to 90s.

Too bad, she passed away suddenly in 1995 at the age of 42……a bright but short life.

Chinese’s Lantern Festival is all about the Moon, and this year we’ll celebrate the occasion with this song.

6 months ago, I have been retrenched as a result of company shut down. I was left wandering in the real world for half year. Many people showed their concern by asking me about my job seeking progress and future plannings, and all I do mind is to spend more time with my family which I didn’t have the luxury to enjoy when my precious private time was fully occupied by routine works that I don’t enjoy much.

At first, there was this wonderful carefree Europe backpack trip, and I spent my Christmas in Greece, my 2008 New Year in Germany, and my Chinese New Year break at my hometown – Kuching.

Retrenchment is not so bad after all, isn’t it?

Chinese New Year is always an annual report of your achievement in the previous year, and mine, is very special:

“I got retrenched, backpacked in Europe and will search for a new job”

Perhaps doesn’t sound too good to many, but I really appreciate it.

Life suddenly slows down for me and I gradually realize what I have missed for the past few years. Having breakfast with my Mum, driving her around and recognizing new routes to new shopping complex, watching satellite television together, exploring new recipes, attended concerts and most importantly, we talked a lot about the future and the plannings.

And I get to enjoy cheaper off peak period air tickets with so few passengers sharing the same flight!

Remember those times, you have to check your calendar for long weekends, beg your boss to approve your leaves, and check with your colleagues to back you up in the office while you are away?

And today, I have to come back to reality again. My first day in a new company, with new faces around me and an unknown future here. It takes some time to learn and adapt, and there will be struggles to survive in this field, but anyway, this is just a start and not the end.
