Us (我们) – Kelvin Chen from “Together”

Friday, January 22nd, 2010

I have been enjoying Christmas and New Year so much that I kinda slowed down in creating piano sheets. There are so many things to cope with at the same time, so it’s not 100% laziness.

Believe it or not, I did not even watch a single episode of “Together” (当我们同在一起)

None, really.

Together Drama Poster

From the review it seems that I should lower my expectation because “The Little Nyonya” is a little too good to be compared to “Together”.

If you guys never requested its theme song, I’ll never transcribe this song either.

Sometimes transcribing a song that you’ve heard before (it’s even better if you like that song), is much easier than doing one from scratch. The sentimental feeling transforms into motivation that makes you feel like completing the song in the shortest time.

I hate to admit it, but yes, I am more delighted to transcribe those songs that fulfill the mentioned criteria.

Most of the time, however, I’d try to go against my heart because I know that somebody like songs that I don’t like and I just have to be fair. 🙂

Beyond The Realm Of Conscience (宫心计)

Thursday, November 26th, 2009

If you wonder where Ah Doe had been for the past few weeks, don’t worry, she is still alive.

I did not go far, I am always in front of my computer, watching several dramas concurrently.

TVB Drama: Beyond the Realm of Conscience

I am so into this drama that whenever I go whatever I do, the theme song will keep ringing in my head. I cannot stand the harassment and therefore, I put them into notes.

What an excuse.

One of the major actresses Susanna Kwan (关菊英) sang this song herself. You might have seen her acting recently but Ah Doe would like to let you know that she is a professional singer since the 80s and I am one of her fans all the while.

Can’t believe that her acting is as good as her singing.

Listen to the piano sheet demo:

About this piano sheet:

1) It’s in original key, C# Minor

2) Lyrics and chords included

3) Less chords, more bass. Less tougher than my usual style.

TVB will be airing the last few episodes this week, can’t wait to see the ending.

Moon River – Request

Friday, October 2nd, 2009

It will be Lantern festival very soon. Last year’s Lantern festival, I did a piano sheet about the moon for the occasion.

So what’s the chosen song this time?

Breakfast at Tiffany's Soundtrack CD

It’s Moon River, by Andy Williams.

Moon River has been a favourite classic since the release of Breakfast at Tiffany’s. It was originally sang by Audrey Hepburn and later performed by many artists even till today.

I knew some people will doubt that Moon River is from Andy Williams when I first said it, and they are right because Audrey Hepburn sang it originally. There are really too many versions of Moon River, each is unique on its own and I really do love most of them. I chose the Andy Williams version because his version is one of the well-known one.

The latest versions that I have just come across recently are Khalil Fong’s jazz arrangement and the soundtrack from a Korean drama called Lovers in Paris/ 巴黎恋人.

Trust me, it is a hard decision.

Do you know (알고있나요) by Someday

Thursday, September 10th, 2009

This song is played when Kim Jan Di and Gu Jun Pyo were stranded in a wooden hut during their skiing trip. There is nothing special if nothing happens right? The problem is: There is something going on that night!

BOF Kiss Scene 1

Wow wow…but…young kids at home, please do not imitate this.

The song at the background is Someday’s Do you know/ 알고있나요/ 你知道吗. A very romantic song that fits in well with the romantic atmosphere. Next time if I am going to have a candlelight dinner, maybe I will ask the restaurant to play this song. 🙂

Halloween/ Hungry Ghost Month Special: The Piano Duet from Corpse Bride

Wednesday, September 2nd, 2009

I watched Corpse Bride several years ago.

Corpse Bride Poster

At first I was prepared for something frightening from it but I thought Tim Burton would keep it mild because this is an animation after all and so many children would be watching it.

Towards its end I realized that it’s a nostalgic love story. Animated one of course.

Seriously, I love its story line and its soundtrack.

Especially this piano duet by Emily the ghost (Voice by Helena Bonham Carter) and Victor the human (Voice by Johnny Depp).

This is the first duet that I’ve ever created. Although I have done something more complicated than this, I’ve never underestimated the challenge.

This piano sheet:

1) Is in original key: C Major and Bb Major

2) No lyrics, no chords. Why do you need these for something instrumental by the way?

3) Marked the two sections with “Victor” and “Emily” so that you’ll know which part you’d be playing.

And this is how it sounds like on your piano, if you have four hands or if you gather another pair of hands.

Oh haven’t I told you why this song is considered special for Halloween/ Hungry Ghost Month?

Yeah, smart guys and girls~ Emily is a…

BOO~~~!!!
