AhDoe – Music as an International Language

Yanni has always been one of my favourite artists. He surprises me with his gift. Do you know that he did not undergo proper training on piano and composing? Do you know that he is a good swimmer who once set a national record in his country? The biggest surprise is, there seems no intersection between these two.

Those who tried to play his music on piano before should know that his music is not always simple, and don’t forget that these music came from a self-taught pianist.

So why are we paying for those music lessons then? So sad right?

Anyway, “Change” is requested by Kathleen. Without her request, I’d never know this beautiful song, which is a truly good recommendation from her!

Yanni doesn’t look like 50+ years old at all!

I had been to Greece before and I noticed that they really have good music in their country. Has it got something to do with their beautiful scenery?

It will be Lantern festival very soon. Last year’s Lantern festival, I did a piano sheet about the moon for the occasion.

So what’s the chosen song this time?

It’s Moon River, by Andy Williams.

Moon River has been a favourite classic since the release of Breakfast at Tiffany’s. It was originally sang by Audrey Hepburn and later performed by many artists even till today.

I knew some people will doubt that Moon River is from Andy Williams when I first said it, and they are right because Audrey Hepburn sang it originally. There are really too many versions of Moon River, each is unique on its own and I really do love most of them. I chose the Andy Williams version because his version is one of the well-known one.

The latest versions that I have just come across recently are Khalil Fong’s jazz arrangement and the soundtrack from a Korean drama called Lovers in Paris/ 巴黎恋人.

Trust me, it is a hard decision.

This song is played when Kim Jan Di and Gu Jun Pyo were stranded in a wooden hut during their skiing trip. There is nothing special if nothing happens right? The problem is: There is something going on that night!

Wow wow…but…young kids at home, please do not imitate this.

The song at the background is Someday’s Do you know/ 알고있나요/ 你知道吗. A very romantic song that fits in well with the romantic atmosphere. Next time if I am going to have a candlelight dinner, maybe I will ask the restaurant to play this song. 🙂

The opening theme from the Korean drama: Boys over Flower or known as BOF. I remembered clearly that this song was also played when F4 and Kim Jan Di were playing hide and seek in Venetian Macau.

This song is also one of the most wanted songs from everyone and therefore I just added in the BOF for sale list.

I personally like my transcription for this song because the rhythmic Jazz beat and the melody is well taken care of. You should know that there is always self-satisfaction after completing a challenging task.
