If you wonder where Ah Doe had been for the past few weeks, don’t worry, she is still alive.

I did not go far, I am always in front of my computer, watching several dramas concurrently.

I am so into this drama that whenever I go whatever I do, the theme song will keep ringing in my head. I cannot stand the harassment and therefore, I put them into notes.

What an excuse.

One of the major actresses Susanna Kwan (关菊英) sang this song herself. You might have seen her acting recently but Ah Doe would like to let you know that she is a professional singer since the 80s and I am one of her fans all the while.

Can’t believe that her acting is as good as her singing.

Miss Yuan Long Lin or just Cindy Yuan is really talented. When I first heard that she is backed by Jay Chou, I knew that there is something about Cindy.

Press says that she just came back from US and she’s good in piano and violin (That can be verified in the music video of this song). There’s a violin and piano solo by her and a cello solo by Jay. I’ve also fixed this part in the piano sheet.

So, I did my part in the piano sheet. It’s challenging in nature so it’s really up to you whether you want to master this solo. 🙂

The piano solo part requires basic skill in appregio and chromatic scale. Playing scales is always an agony for piano learners but you’ll realize that it’s actually important especially when you come to classical pieces.

Yanni has always been one of my favourite artists. He surprises me with his gift. Do you know that he did not undergo proper training on piano and composing? Do you know that he is a good swimmer who once set a national record in his country? The biggest surprise is, there seems no intersection between these two.

Those who tried to play his music on piano before should know that his music is not always simple, and don’t forget that these music came from a self-taught pianist.

So why are we paying for those music lessons then? So sad right?

Anyway, “Change” is requested by Kathleen. Without her request, I’d never know this beautiful song, which is a truly good recommendation from her!

Yanni doesn’t look like 50+ years old at all!

I had been to Greece before and I noticed that they really have good music in their country. Has it got something to do with their beautiful scenery?

I am going to offend Jerry’s fans if I say so: Jerry isn’t good in singing, he is better in acting.

That’s true, at least for me, until I heard this song.

I first heard this song at Yes 93.3 and thought it was beautifully written and presented. After several times, I decided to find out what this song is and who is the singer. I waited and waited, and finally one day, the DJ announced its song name and to my shock, Jerry Yan sang it! That cool and arrogant guy in Taiwanese Meteor Garden 8 years ago.

Before we talk about Jerry, I really ought to give a credit to the composer and arranger for doing a good job. Alex Fung (冯翰铭) is that composer who wrote many songs for a number of pop singers such as Andy Lau, Twins, Andy Hui etc. This time, Jerry improves a lot in his singing. His presentation surprised me and convinced me that he put a lot effort in his singing career.

It will be Lantern festival very soon. Last year’s Lantern festival, I did a piano sheet about the moon for the occasion.

So what’s the chosen song this time?

Breakfast at Tiffany’s Soundtrack CD Cover

It’s Moon River, by Andy Williams.

Moon River has been a favourite classic since the release of Breakfast at Tiffany’s. It was originally sang by Audrey Hepburn and later performed by many artists even till today.

I knew some people will doubt that Moon River is from Andy Williams when I first said it, and they are right because Audrey Hepburn sang it originally. There are really too many versions of Moon River, each is unique on its own and I really do love most of them. I chose the Andy Williams version because his version is one of the well-known one.

The latest versions that I have just come across recently are Khalil Fong’s jazz arrangement and the soundtrack from a Korean drama called Lovers in Paris/ 巴黎恋人.

Trust me, it is a hard decision.
