AhDoe – Music as an International Language

It has been “quite a while” since I last posted my last music score. I was not completely idle during this “a while”, at least I am still paying attention to www.ahdoe.com and being responsive to all the emails and requests.

My urge to transcribe this song came right after finishing this drama called “Scarlet Heart” or “Startled by each step”, which is the English translation of 步步惊心.

I did not know anything about the plot when this drama is being aired in Singapore. It was its theme song that captured my attention, then followed by watching this drama. The consequence: addiction! (Traumatized for 2 weeks!)

Written, composed and performed by a Chinese artist called Yan Yi Dan (严艺丹), the song named Silver Paradise (三寸天堂) just couldn’t get out of my head and I decided to put this song into notes:

I am not sure why Alexandre Desplat did the soundtrack for Twilight Saga. Carter Burwell was quite good as well isn’t it? And so, this will be the third Alexandre Desplat’s composition that I had worked on.

Out of so many songs from the soundtrack, I chose “The Meadow” because it is relatively easier than the rest. There are no complicated harmonics or flying notes. Just simple appregios and simple melody.

Who says nice music has to be complicated anyway right?

A Mozart reincarnated is one of the songs from The Legend of 1900 soundtrack, which is composed by Ennio Morricone.

Remember two years ago Jay Chou directed a movie called “Secret” (不能说的秘密)? Well I did blog about this in a post called Jay’s secret is not so original then.

So where were we? Oh ya, The Legend of 1900, the movie that inspired Jay to film “Secret”.

1) It’s in its original key, i.e. Bb Major

2) Purely instrumental. No chords and lyrics.

This piano sheet is quite simple for a Grade 3 and above except some running notes that pose difficulty towards the end. Maybe I should rephrase my sentence: If you skip that part, well, Grade 3 should be fine.
