First of all, happy new year everyone! So long farewell 2016 and a warm welcome to 2017!

There are increased demands of Chinese New Year piano sheets and music scores around this corner. Let’s have a look at the list of Chinese New Year songs Ah Doe had transcribed in the past few years:

And this year, what I have done to add to the list is another Chinese New Year oldies called Celebrating New Year (贺新年), or pronounced as “Her Shin Nien”.

After several transcription works for some new dramas, Ah Doe thought it will be a good time to switch to something simple and free for everyone. When I say simple, it’s very likely to be something instrumental.

And here it is, New Moon piano sheet from Twilight Saga.

Composed by Alexandre Desplat, the structure of this song is fairly simple. A note at each count, complimented by a sonata like accompaniment at the bass clef.

To play this piece beautiful, remember to use a lot of pedals to create the effects of echo, keep the bass soft to bring out the main melody. The simpler a music is, the harder it is to express it well.

2 more months to Christmas and we will bid farewell to 2016!

Speaking about Christmas, we all know about those merry joyful Christmas songs. Ah Doe was thinking of doing a piano sheet related to Christmas as well, but it has to be something different. So today, here it is… (Well, you might not like it.)

This is not a new song any more, but I would like to share it with all of you for free.

Composed by Ryuichi Sakamoto, this is a soundtrack from the film Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence (戦場のメリークリスマス). Over these years, this song has become very famous that lots of you might find it very familiar but can’t spell its name on top of your head.

I hope my Christmas doesn’t feel as melancholy as this song.

Other than Game of Thrones, Daredevil (Starring Charlie Cox, oh yeah he is the one who acted in Stardust. See piano sheet from Stardust.) is another show that I am watching. It all started when someone told me that the good reviews for the first season were close to 100% so I decided to give it a try.

The fights scenes are so real (Some of them are really violent honestly), dialogues are intriguing (May need subtitles due to extensive usage of law terms) and the chicks (Deborah Ann Woll especially) are hot!

The less than one minute opening title is awesome. I would give the orchestral transcription work a try one day but the piano sheet I am giving out for free today should be good enough for most piano players.
